    Our Journey

    1899

    St. John Ambulance Jamaica officially established as part of the international Order of St. John expansion throughout the Commonwealth

    1907

    Volunteers likely assisted in Kingston earthquake disaster response, demonstrating early emergency capabilities

    1939-1945

    Major WWII service - staffed Mona refugee/internment camp and assisted at Kingston Public Hospital during wartime

    1951

    Provided critical first aid and rescue services during Hurricane Charlie disaster response

    1955

    Clembert "Clem" Powell joined, beginning over 60 years of dedicated service leadership

    1957

    St. John personnel rendered critical aid during the tragic Kendal train crash emergency

    2000s

    Digital training platform and e-Campus launched under modern leadership including Earl Jarrett as Chairman

    2024

    Over 125 years of continuous service with 500+ volunteers serving island-wide under "Pro Fide, Pro Utilitate Hominum"

    Our Impact

    Community Service Excellence

    St John Ambulance Jamaica has a proud record of service, providing help during national disasters throughout the country and to Caribbean neighbours. We provide first aid training and ambulance support services at very low costs as part of our mission for service.

    Our volunteering duties include first aid coverage for public, official and state functions as well as corporate and private events. We are always standing ready to serve.

    Leadership & Governance

    We are an association of the international Order of St John - a working Order of Chivalry and modern charitable organization. Our organization operates under the motto "Pro Fide, Pro Utilitate Hominum" (For the Faith and in the Service of Humanity) with over 500 volunteers providing more than 10,000 hours of service annually.
